7 Questions with Jimmy New
Jimmy New is a Hip Hop DJ, rapper, and producer from Bankstown in Western Sydney. He is the full time DJ for the group Hard Evidence.
When did you first start DJing and where did you learn your technique from?
"I started learning to DJ at the end of 2013 after having a few mates show me how they do it I learned my technique from watching other artist like Dj Riley JM, Micks King and Maniac as well as tutorials."
So I heard that you are also an emcee, have you got any tracks out we could hear you on?
"Yeah I'm a emcee as well but haven't released any of my tracks yet but stay tune I did do a brief stint on battle rapping though."
A group that you sometimes DJ for, Beat Theory, performed at the original Spaceport. What do you think about Spaceport being resurrected? And could it ever capture the same vibe as Spaceport One?
"I think it's a really cool think it's a great idea to restart Spaceport it was such a fun event and I think a lot of people will be happy to see it make a come back. As long as we got the same love for the music I think we can definitely recapture the vibe."
What is your earliest memory of listening to Hip Hop?
"My earliest memory of listing to Hip Hop would have been when I was 7 and the Men In Black movie came out I loved the single it was the 1st CD I ever bought too."

What does Hip Hop culture mean to you?
To me Hip Hop culture means to be proud of who you are, as you are. It's a place to express and better yourself and share ideals and storys through art and bring people together."
