VIDEO PREMIERE: SPECTACLES "CITIZEN"
Veterans of Sydney's underground warehouse scene Spectacles are a genre-bending four-piece fusion hip-hop band welding drums, guitars, synths & samplers with two vocalists and writers performing poetic verses and harmonies.
They have set themselves a highly ambitious goal- 13 film clips for 13 tracks debuted over 13 weeks. And that is exactly how Spectacles are unleashing their debut record Wreck Creation by dropping a video clip for each track from the album each week. The 2nd video from the record is “Citizen”, a song about military drones, with an excerpt from the film "5,000 Feet is the Best" by Omer Fast as the visual backdrop.
The recently leaked Drone Papers show that contrary to the official propaganda, a huge proportion of drone casualties are civilians.
"This isn't the most charming topic to sing about" says D.A. Carter "but we'd rather make a song which make people a little unsettled if they read into the lyrics than just make party tracks and pretend we're not a civilisation that's literally creating dystopia with deadly remote controlled robots."
