Rapaport

  • The Hideaway Bar 156 Enmore Road Enmore, NSW, 2042 Australia (map)

Rapaport launches new footwork-soul inspired single 'Lost in the Frequency' at the Hideaway Bar on July 8 with supports from hyped up and comers Triple One & Bowra-based MC Tasman Keith as well as single producer Kid Fiction.

In 'Lost in the Frequency', Rapaport's anxiety-drenched lyrics, combined with producer Kid Fiction's foreboding footwork drums and moody synths, explore the subterranean and the soulful. "Lost in the Frequency" describes the relentless and overwhelming nature of anxiety, detailing the rapper's personal stress and state of mind.

Renowned visual artist Daniel O'Toole (Ears) provides the mind-blending layered video for the song. Colourful liquid falls on Rapaport's head as he performs the song. Complete with superimposed images and pastel visuals, "Lost in the Frequency" describes the rapper's mind caving in on itself.

This is Rapaport's third single from his forthcoming album Village Idiot, following his SMAC award nominated "What I Got" prod by Ribongia and the grimey "FAM" featuring P.Smurf. Village Idiot will be released on Big Village Records in September 2017.

TRIPLE ONE

Life Without Andy
"Triple One Are About To Become Your Favourite Local Hip-Hop Crew, Ominous sounds from the Inner-West. Triple One’s ominous and adventurous spirit make them the most interesting group to hit Australian hip-hop in recent memory, and oceans apart from anything being churned out on the airwaves.

Emerging from Sydney’s Inner-West, the quartet mix goth-infused production with relentless street raps that border between dark fantasies and deep episodes of self-doubt. Their signature anthem ‘Doozy‘ has clocked up close to 200,000 views (now currently 957,000) through YouTube channel Astari, and exemplifies their bleak sound with blazing confidence – like a pair of black Air Max stomping sonic mud holes in your ear drums. Their vocals also feature moody breaks that reek of cheap beer and stale cigarettes, making the Triple One experience one that’s devilishly enjoyable.

TASMAN KEITH

Tasman Keith is a mission boy who was raised between bustling inner city Sydney and the humble Bowraville Mission in the Nambucca Valley, northern New South Wales. His new single ‘Might Snap’ taunts you to the edge of reason and grabs you to dance at the edge of snapping. The video clip depicts Tasman in black and white, fighting with these thoughts represented as a lucid liquid format in which the liquid formation represents the easy way out through alcohol and drugs.

‘Might Snap’ (produced by Nooky (Bad Apples Music) sonically mimics the intensity of Tasman’s lyrical content with razor sharp snares and a pulsating buzzing bass line. “I’m dipping into the reality of what would happen if I did snap. When those feelings become overwhelming, where you’ve seen the stereotypes and felt society’s pressure, and how the affects of such things play out in other people. And you realise there’s the easy way out... It’s about that inner fight to not go down that path. That fight within yourself to not snap.” – Tasman Keith.

Tasman proudly represents the legacy of the Gumbaynggirr Nation and Aboriginal Hip Hop. Truly epitomising everything that is dope about the newest generation of these cultures, he is the son of seminal Australian Hip Hop pioneer Wire MC. Tasman works hard to ensure he lives up to his pedigree.
In his short time in the music industry, Tasman has consolidated his musical stance contributing on the recent NITV ‘Change The Date’ track with Urthboy, Nooky, L-Fresh, Thundamentals, Coda Conduct, Birdz, Kaylah Truth, Ozi Batla & Hau. On hype man duties for Nooky, he has blessed the same stages as the iconic hip hop outfit A.B. Original and Tech N9ne. Tasman’s recent performance highlights includes sets at Yabun and Saltwater Freshwater festivals.

KID FICTION
