The second instalment of the monthly Boom bap sessions returns on Saturday the 6th June. Joining resident DJ's Cost, Platterpush and Codeks we have special guests Jacob Quest launching his new single 'Reflective Thought Music' and Live Graffiti by Kulzoney.
DJ CO$T
DJ Cost started djing close to ten years ago and has been a dedicated student to the art of turntablism ever since. Heavily involved in the local hip hop scene for years. Dj for P.Smurf and Cooking with Caustic and tour Dj for a number of acts including Joe New & Ozi Batla. Dj Cost has recorded studio cuts for a number of artists including Thundamentals and Daily Meds. He earned second place in his first Dj battle at the 2013 NSW DMC Competition & was runner up at the 2014 Wax Wars Battle
PLATTERPUSH & CODEKS
Platterpush and Codeks have been writing music together for over ten years. Initially playing in a live reggae band before venturing into hip hop production and dj’ing/ turntablism. Over the last Six years Platterpush and Codeks have produced music for many of Australia’s finest Hip Hop artists such as 13th Son, Down Under Beats Crew, Immune, Lotek, Ghostrider. They have released two independent albums and have had tracks feature on numerous compilations. As well as production a strong emphasis is also placed on performance, combining turntablism with live sample triggering and feature emcees results in a dynamic live show. Platterpush and Codeks have supported international hip hop artists such as De La Soul, Dj Krush, Lord Finesse, DJ Roc Raida, Q Unique, Omni, DJ Revolution, Lotek, Mystro, Eternia as well as many of Australia's finest Hip Hop acts.
JACOB QUEST
Jacob Quest is a Sydney based Hip Hop artist of African decent. Growing up in Sydney exposed Jacob to different cultures and social issues, these experiences are reflected within his music. Heavily influenced by Soul, Jazz, Blues and Afro Beat, Jacob’s music incorporates aspects of these genres and infuses them with his unique style of Hip Hop. Currently working on ‘TheJourney L.P’, a Jazz based Hip Hop record with long time friend and Producer Mr Zux.
KULZONEY (AEROSOL ARTIST)
Kulzoney is a Blue Mountains based artist who has been painting for more that 10 years and specialises in aerosol as a medium.
